S.T.A.R. — Successful Training of Adult Responsibilities — was created to help young people confidently transition into adulthood by equipping them with practical life skills rarely taught in traditional classrooms.
As a student with dyslexia, I learned early that success is not about perfection—it is about persistence. Challenges in reading, organization, and communication taught me resilience, responsibility, and self-advocacy. Those experiences shaped the foundation of S.T.A.R. and continue to inspire my mission today.
When I moved fourteen hours away from home at eighteen years old and became responsible for my finances, health, schedule, and future, I realized many young adults face adulthood without the tools needed to succeed.
S.T.A.R. exists to bridge that gap. The Five Pillars of S.T.A.R.:

25%
of 21-year-olds are financially independent
39%
hold full-time employment
53%
of young adults live at home or rely heavily on family support

"Alexia Williams is super friendly and helpful. She has worked with me through my problems and created a plan that was tailored for me to better help me budget and provided tools for me to use. Anytime that I had a question or concern, Alexia was there to help guide me and help me come to the right solution. She is a very approachable person and her personality shines brightly as Miss Hanover County. She brings hope and joy to anyone she comes into contact with and inspires others to follow in her footsteps."

Janet Spencer, School Counselor, Arcola Elementary School

"Alexia was a phenomenal Career Day speaker for our third, fourth, and fifth graders. The students were captivated by her impressive broadcasting career and her inspiring journey through the Miss Virginia Organization. We are incredibly grateful for her generosity in volunteering her time to motivate our youth."
"I've had the privilege to see firsthand how caring and supportive Alexia is when it comes to helping others. Through the S.T.A.R. program and as Miss Hanover County, she brings great energy, strong leadership, and a real passion for making a difference. She has a natural way of connecting with people that makes them feel supported and heard. Alexia represents her community with kindness, integrity, and a genuine heart."

S.T.A.R. continues to expand through strategic partnerships with educators, school counselors, legislators, and community leaders across Virginia.
